Interfixtures
2022, light sculptures / installation
Interfixtures uses industrial electrical hardware and consumer home-lighting accessories as building blocks to construct abnormal new media sculptures. An exercise in unconventional medium-specificity, Interfixtures is an exploration of ‘security-lighting’ and how their components, designed purely for function, can be decontextualized and reconfigured through formal inquiry. Emerging as bizarre and unusual formations, these works take cues and inspiration from the haphazard arrangement of exterior security-lighting, whose floodlights and motion detectors often take on surprisingly convoluted and amusing configurations.
